When?
The Steppin' Stone Centre is open every day except Wednesday.
You can volunteer between 11.45am and 8pm on any day we are open
Who?
You don't have to have any special skill. You can be any age over 18 and from any background or ethnic group. You just have to be non-judgemental and interested in people. Training is given.
What's involved?
The Porch undoubtedly does make a difference to people's lives, not just to our Member users but to Volunteers and all involved with the Steppin' Stone Centre.
Volunteers spend time talking and listening to Members. Sometimes you can be the only person who has given attention and time to a person that day or even that week. You might well hear some fascinating life-stories.
Assisting with the laundry, serving food, washing up and cleaning are all part of the role. You can also get involved in other ways by sharing any special skills or interests you may have.
Can I share my skills?
We run a variety of activities and outings for members including art, computers, cookery courses, sports activities, reading and writing group, bike rides and days out to the coast and other place of interest. If you have an interest in any of these areas then our project workers would welcome your help and support.
Equally we are always open to ideas so if there is an activity we are not doing at the moment that you woudl like to share please speak to our Projects Manager.
Art & craft, computers, literacy and life skills, sporting interests, gardening, woodwork, - the list can go on share your talents.
